Having such a mild winter enabled us to open the golf course on April 28th this year, one of the earliest dates on record! This early start to the season and the new members of staff around the club this year is very encouraging and we are looking forward to a great season in 2010.
Staff
On the subject of new staff, we have acquired the services of Andrew Margeson, a golf course superintendent from Halifax. Andrew has been working in St Johns for the past few seasons and has a wealth of knowledge in the industry. There will be some new faces in the pro-shop this year too, John Holmes is our new Assistant Golf Professional, moving here from Ontario, John will be around the pro-shop and coaching the junior program this summer. In addition, Tanya McCarthy and Jodie Nichols will also be working in the pro-shop and we’re very happy to have them on board!
Bag Tags / RCGA Cards
The membership bag tags are here and available in the pro-shop to collect when you are at the club next.
There has been a change in the Canadian Association, The RCGA has now been rebranded to become Golf Canada and all members of Blomidon Golf Club are members of Golf Canada, for more information log on to www.golfcanada.ca Members will receive a membership card/bag tag from Golf Canada and this will entitle you to a host of benefits including hotel and travel discounts. For a full range of benefits please log on to the link above. This is not a handicap card; they are available from the club but will be different from the Golf Canada card.
Golf Course Improvements
As many of you have seen in recent seasons, work has been under way on the extension of 3 holes at the club. Hole number 18 will now become a par 5 and the new green will be open very soon, hopefully with the next two weeks! Hole number 8 will be 50 yards longer although work on the new green is still ongoing and we hope to have it open later in the year. We had hoped to extend hole number 7 but with sewage issues under the proposed new green location there is some consideration being given to other options.
Blomidon Website & Blog
Our website has been updated and improved over the winter with the addition of a blog which will allow us to update the various goings on around the club and keep members updated with tournament schedules and results. Family Fun Day
There will be a family fun day at the golf club on Saturday 15th May, please come along, bring some friends and have a great day!

- Blomidon Golf and Country Club is located in the heart of the City of Corner Brook on Newfoundland's West Coast. Recently redesigned by well known Canadian golf architect, Graham Cooke, Blomidon offers golfers panoramic vistas of the city, as well as views of the surrounding Blomidon Mountains and the beautiful Bay of Islands. Blomidon has been the site of several major golfing events including the Canadian National Junior Ladies Championship in 1979 and 1991. The redesigned course provides challenge and enjoyment for golfers of all skill levels. As you drive into Corner Brook, you can see the Blomidon course from the Trans Canada Highway. A large selection of accommodations and restaurants are available nearby.
